Sail to the islands

You can travel to the Islands aboard the Scillonian Ferry from Penzance, which docks on St Mary's. If you have a lot of camping gear etc.. it is the best option. You can't bring cars to the islands - the ferry is for passengers only. The crossing takes just under 3hrs and gives you a unique perspective of some of Cornwall’s most iconic coastline. Sailings take place daily from Monday to Saturday during the months of March to November, with Sunday sailings operating in the summer months. If you get sea-sick it is worth taking some precautions as the ferry crossing can be wobbly on a rough day! Dogs are welcome onboard.

Load your luggage into the container on the quay in Penzance. Make sure you put a yellow ST AGNES luggage tag on every item (these are supplied at the quay).   >

Good To Bring

A good, sturdy tent (choose quality over size!)
A wetsuit - great for swimming and watersports
Warm layers for any weather
Waterproofs
A torch
Luggage that is easy to handle manually and is <20kg per bag
Battery packs or solar chargers for charging phones etc...

Leave At Home

To make the journey easier, please only bring what you need - we would suggest you avoid bringing:

Travel from St. Mary's to St. Agnes

The Spirit of St Agnes provides the inter-island boat service. There are usually several trips between St Marys and St Agnes every day except Sundays. It routinely meets the Scillonian ferry to transport luggage and passengers to St Agnes. It is not neccessary to book this transfer but you can if you wish using their App (on the app store). If you are arriving by air, you should check with St Agnes boating to confirm your transfer to St Agnes.

Please ensure all bags are labeled with your name and Troytown, St Agnes. Please advise us when booking if you will have a kayak or other heavy or bulky gear. We will meet the boat and transport your luggage to the campsite/cottages by tractor and trailer. All bags are handled manually by the boat crew and the campsite staff so please wherever possible restrict single items of luggage to a maximum of 20kgs.

Camping trailers, bikes, dinghies, kayaks and diving equipment can be brought to St. Agnes. If you have any of these please check with the Steamship Company at Penzance before confirming your holiday dates at Troytown.

Directions to Troytown Farm

The campsite is an easy 15 minute walk from the Quay where you will arrive on the Island. If you follow the concrete road from the quay, straight on past the Turks Head pub, Covean cafe, the Post office stores, past the lighthouse on your right and the Coastguard cottages on your left. The concrete changes to a rough farm track and the campsite is at the end of this track.

For experienced kayakers it is possible to kayak to St Agnes from St Marys and the other islands and the campsite beach is suitable for landing and storing kayaks.
